About the Commission

The Moscow Patriarchate’s Student Exchange Commission was established in 2012 by the decision of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The Head of the Commission is Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, the Rector of SS Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies and the Chairman of the Holy Synod Biblical-Theological Commission.

The Student Exchange Commission consists of rectors of the Russian Orthodox theological institutes, Metropolitan Anthony of Chersonesus and Western Europe , the Head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov,  Head of the ROC Education Committee, and Hieromonk Pavel (Cherkasov), Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Theologocal Institute of Postgraduate Studies.

The Commission gives those who decided to devote themselves to serving the Russian Orthodox Church an opportunity to study abroad.

The Commission cooperates with various educational world institutions as well as with scientific, educational and diplomatic structures of Heterodox and Local Orthodox Churches.

Every year the best students of educational centers of the Moscow Patriarchate and the employees of synodal and diocesan institutions travel abroad to study and increase their qualifications.
